Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5812 gathered on April 8 to cast their votes in the organization’s annual elections, selecting a new slate of officers to guide the post through the coming year.
After ballots were counted, Peter Raleigh was elected as Commander. Matt Dilcher will join him as Senior Vice Commander, and Cole Estes as Junior Vice Commander. Incumbent Tony Johnson will continue serving as quartermaster, maintaining continuity in the post’s financial leadership.
The newly elected officers will officially assume their roles following the state convention in June, where they will be formally sworn in alongside other VFW leaders from across the state.
Leadership transitions in the VFW are a key part of maintaining the post’s mission of supporting veterans, advocating for their needs, and strengthening community ties.
Commander-elect Raleigh is expected to outline his priorities for the post in the coming months as he prepares to take office, with a focus on continued service, membership growth, and support for local veterans and their families.
The transition period between now and June will allow incoming officers to work alongside current leadership to ensure a smooth handoff and continued success for Post 5812.
